If you are driving down Rosemead Boulevard in South El Monte, you will pass a lot with a bunch of vehicles. You might think it is just some kind of parking lot or prop house, but it is actually an outdoor military museum. When I went, I nearly drove past it.
The American Military Museum is all outside with over 170 different tanks, a helicopter, and other military equipment from WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam, & Desert Storm, etc. They have Cargo Trucks, Tanks, a Helicopter, Ambulances, Anti-Aircraft Guns amongst other items. I very much like to visit places that are old timey. Living History.
Every item has a number which coordinates to the museum’s guide, which you can choose download & print from their website before you visit, or can can their QR code & look online as you peruse everything. I used the web guide, but you might like the printed version as a souvenir but also so it is easier for you to remember what is in the pictures you take once you are home. There are people around the museum that can answer any questions you might have, though.

They also rent out to tv/film productions, so you might see something here that you have seen in a movie!
The museum has group tours available, and they do give Vets a discount. There is a small gift shop area, too. I got my mom a tiny fighter jet.
Make sure to check their website for current hours and admission prices. They are closed on rainy days, of course.
